Despite being illiterate, Alice will often become quite engrossed in books. When I was home with both kids today and I needed to nurse Simon, I told Alice to look at the books on the bookshelf in Simon's room (since she likes to be in the room with me but often distracts Simon). She ended up staying in there for an hour and looked through nearly every book on the bottom shelf.
