Relaxing Sunday

Just kidding. There is no rest for weary around here. I graded papers while Zac took the kids to the pond, then I watched the kids in the pond (because they could probably stay there all day) while Zac worked on building shelves in the garage.

Up a creek

BEFORE:

AFTER:

IN THE MIDDLE:

I feel really bad for all those suckers paying out the wazoo to take their kids to Disneyland and whatnot. All kids really need is some mud and water to have a blast.

Because Alice is never sated, on the way back from the creek she made plans for the kids to have a picnic. So all the kids got cleaned up and had the weirdest picnic ever: Parker ate toast, Alice had pizza and frozen peas, and Simon ate rotini.

Alice's Art

Alice came home from school with this yellow person. It's hard to get the whole story out of her, but I'm guessing she found the shoe stationary, and decided a person needed to be wearing those shoes.

Grayson...here today, gone tomorrow

We're still so sad about Grayson's family moving away at the beginning of summer. We're trying to schedule as many playdates as possible so these best buds can hang out.

Kids in the pond

We had an early supper, so in the evening I took the kids wading in the pond. Well, that was the idea, but Alice can't resist water, so she ended up sitting in it. I love how much fun they have playing in water; it would be mighty disappointing if they didn't. They might drive us nuts most of the time, but at least they know what's good in life.

Kids in a car

Simon let Alice take him for a spin in our neighbor's kid-car. They invented a little game where they drive down the street until Simon screams, "Stop!!!" then Alice screeches to a halt, Simon jumps out and picks up some debris off the road, puts it in the back of the car, climbs back in. Repeat a hundred times. Great fun!

Earth Day at Brumley Forest Nature Preserve

We went to the newly-opened Brumley Forest Nature Preserve to celebrate Earth Day with our friends, Rob and Kate.  There were fun activities for the kids and we took a nice little hike down to a pond.

37 times around the sun for Sera

There seemed to be a spiral theme to my birthday this year. Spiraling out of control? Downward spiral?  What are Zac and Alice trying to tell me?

At any rate, it was a fun evening and the kids did a great job opening all of my presents for me!

Easter at Izzy's

Around 11am we arrived at Izzy's for their annual egg-hunt and lunch. It was a ton of fun seeing our friend group from daycare and letting the kids enjoy all the fun.

Simon insists that you do not look at him while he picks up eggs.
