We moved out of 506 Ryan Rd and into 101 Flemington Ct on December 30th, six days before we would actually close on the new house and possibly months away from selling our current house. It was a bit nerve-wracking. We were so busy, we barely took any pictures all day.
The kids eating their last breakfast at Ryan Rd.
The day went like this. Nelson and Zac took the moving truck from Ohio that was now full of boxes and small stuff to the new house and started unloading it first thing in the morning. Mom took the kids to the mall play area. I stayed at the house with the movers.
The movers had all the large furniture packed up and delivered to the new house just as Zac and Nelson finished unloading the yellow truck. They headed back to the old house for another load (stuff from the shed and whatnot), while I stayed at the new house with the movers and made sure all the furniture ended up in the right place.
Meanwhile, Stana stayed at the old house and had the kids take naps there. Zac and Nelson unloaded the last load from their moving truck in the evening. How on earth we crammed three moving truck loads of stuff into such a small house is flabbergasting. We mainly blame our relatives for passing so much stuff on to us all the time. (-:
As it got dark, I went to pick up Chinese food for supper, and went to the old house to get the kids and mom. Then we brought our children into our new house for the first time.
First supper at the new house! All the adults were completely exhausted, but the kids were in high spirits and excited about the new house and having Chinese food for supper.
As an example of the rough state of the house, my parents had to sleep in the guest room which had no window coverings or even a functioning ceiling light.
It felt good to be all moved in, but I didn't sleep well knowing that I didn't know where anything was, that the house was buried in boxes, that a million decisions and problems lay ahead of me. My pet peeve in life is not knowing where something is. I was way out of my comfort zone. Also, the heat made a lot of noise every time it came on, waking me up all night. Where were my earplugs? What had we done to ourselves?
