Our second hike took us up Gabes Mountain Trail to Hen Wallow Falls. This was to be our big hike of the trip, since it would be over four miles. Some day I hope to do longer hikes again.
The beauty in this area is just breathtaking. I could've sat here all day while Zac and the kids scrambled around.
With many such pauses to play, we continued our journey up to the waterfall.
Hen Wallow Falls was a bit crowded by our standards, but not too bad.
We had lunch at the falls.
We played at the falls for a while, then headed back down.
Simon laughs in the face of death with a mushroom stem stuck up his nose. This is my "parenting in one picture" entry.
We didn't get rained on quite as much on this hike, but everything was very damp during our whole trip because it rained so much and was so humid. Thankfully it was not actually hot or cold though. It did make starting the fire a bit hard for the kids, so Zac had to help coach them through the process.
We relaxed at camp that evening. Alice read a lot, and Simon entertained himself.
