We drove north to Ohio on Christmas Eve. We got a late start, leaving after 10am, and I was expecting to arrive in Ashville quite late. I was dreading the drive, but with fairly cooperative kids, and no need to nurse at rest stops every 2 and half hours, the trip went much quicker than expected. Alice didn't feel well for most of the drive, and even threw up once (with some warning, so I had a bag ready--disaster averted!), so she slept a lot (which was nice) and whatever was wrong with her seemed to work itself out by the time we arrived in Ohio. We stopped a few times to walk the kids, and we've done this trip so many times over the years that every rest area is familiar to us now. The drive was pretty rainy, which slowed us down a bit, but it was warm so we didn't have to bundle up at the stops. Simon is really coming along in his walking, and he too enjoyed walking about.
We arrived in Ashville in time for a late supper of roasted chicken. We were so happy to be off the road and in a warm welcoming home for the holidays.
Simon was glad to be off the road and start walking around in Ohio for the first time.
Alice was shy around Uncle Paul for a few minutes, but then quickly warmed up.
The kids loved having a bath in the big tub (Alice is hoarding all the toys in the large cup). Simon cried at every bath last time, so this was a nice improvement!
