That evening, we sadly had to drop them off at the airport. Alice understands this concept, but I think Simon kind of believes they live at the airport.

Last day & pumpkin carving with Grandpa & Grandma
Tuesday was the final day of the grandparents' visit. Again, Zac and I went to work while they all stayed home, with instructions to carve the pumpkins we'd bought last week.

Green Park & Stay Home Day with Grandma & Grandpa Shogren
On Monday morning, Zac and I got up and went to work, while the kids stayed home with Grandma and Grandpa. They all walked to our nearby park, dubbed "green park" by Alice because of the green playground equipment. It appears they had a lot of fun!

NC Transportation Museum with Grandma & Grandpa Shogren
On Sunday afternoon, we drove about two hours to Spencer to visit the NC Transportation Museum, "located on the site of what was once southern Railway Company's largest steam locomotive servicing facility." It was another warm, gorgeous fall day, and we had a lot of fun exploring the site and even going on a train ride.
| The kids and Zac even got to ride on a real turntable at the Roundhouse. |
After the museum, we started the drive home and both kids fell asleep as soon as we were on the highway. So we drove for a bit before stopping at a restaurant for supper. We ended up at a Chinese buffet, which was perfect because we didn't have to wait for food (always the downfall for us at restaurants with the kids). It was Alice's first time at a buffet, and she absolutely loved the idea of getting to pick her own food.
