We thought his breathing noise was so cute, but when it didn't go away after 24 hours, the doctors wanted to be cautious so he was put in the special care unit, given antibiotics, and monitored. Apparently, this sweet little sound can be indicative of infections or respiratory problems in newborns. The technical term for it is "grunting." We had to stay in the hospital an extra day because of this, but it all worked out and he is completely healthy and at home now.

Simon at 12 hours
We thought his breathing noise was so cute, but when it didn't go away after 24 hours, the doctors wanted to be cautious so he was put in the special care unit, given antibiotics, and monitored.
